GeoSynFuels, LLC, a cleantech biofuels company, is seeking a motivated individual to join the Development team. This individual will have responsibilities for determining pulping quality for different biomaterials as well as determining best practices for polysaccharide hydrolysis of different cellulosic feedstocks. This position reports to the Director of Development.
Plan, direct, and coordinate pulping and pretreatment processes at GSF.
Take ownership of the mass and energy balance for the processes and continuously seek ways to improve yield and energy efficiency of the process.
Develop, evaluate, and improve the methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities
Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing automation requirements and potential.
Work closely with the GSF engineers in the design, installation, and commissioning of new production equipment and processes.
Monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes.
Provide primary support for all chemistry / quality related manufacturing issues
Present results and participate in meetings
Communicate with contractors and vendors
Qualifications:
Knowledge of process control systems and applications engineering
In depth familiarity with process plant operations and equipment
Knowledge of Aspen or other process simulation software
Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Facilitation
Work requires chemical engineering skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles.
Knowledge of Office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Ability to coach and mentor employees
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to communicate effectively

The successful candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. and 5+ years experience in pulp and paper, preferably at a production plant or in a pulp and paper research laboratory OR a Ph.D. in Paper Science and Engineering or in Chemical Engineering with Pulp and Paper emphasis.
