PECI is looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team and process full payroll cycles for corporate and field locations totaling 350+ employees in multiple states.
Responsibilities:
Export electronic time clock data (using Kronos software) and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy. Contact various department supervisors for missed punches
Processe payroll by examining electronic time cards
Review pay data information to ensure accuracy of payroll prior to transmitting
Enter batches for hours and earnings unrelated to timesheets
Process payroll batches that are not included in normal hours worked for all locations
Process all garnishments from beginning to end including communicating with employees
Create, update and produce various reports using Cognos on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual bases
Interact daily with employees, supervisors, and managers in an effort to provide payroll support and answer payroll-related questions
File payroll-related forms in the appropriate personnel or payroll folders on a daily basis
Review quarterly tax reports for accuracy. Review year-end W-2 reporting in established timeframes
Provide training for supervisors and new employees on the Kronos Timekeeping System and other payroll related systems with the support of supervisor
Reconcile payroll bills with providers
File and maintain payroll tax reports that are not outsourced
Partner with all departments on resolving matters such as benefit deductions, benefit changes, salary continuations, severance, special bonuses, etc.
Maintain and update payroll SOP's and Policies & Procedures at the direction of supervisor
Recommend procedural modifications to the payroll process
Process manual checks from gross to net
All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work requested that falls within the qualification but not specifically described
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and 4-7 years experience with payroll processing and tax filings in a corporate setting required, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Associate's degree preferred
Experience working with GNSA/Ultipro including importing and exporting data preferred
Cognos and Kronos software preferred
Understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws is required. Experience and knowledge of Federal, State and local law payroll processing for multiple states including California is highly preferred
Proficiency using Word, Excel and Outlook required
Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are required
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Works well in a team environment, including assisting other team members as necessary
Ability to maintain confidential information and analyze data to resolve issues quickly and professionally
