Working as part of First Wind's Wind Resource Team, this position will conduct analysis of our operating farms in order to optimize performance.
Responsibilities:
Develop an internal tool for performance assessment of operating wind farms.
Quality control and analysis of meteorological data from met towers at operating wind farms.
Conduct detailed turbine by turbine analysis based on SCADA data to identify under-performing turbines, track changes in turbine performance and report problems to plant managers.
Develop and report a wind plant performance metric to quantify plant performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. At least 2 years of related work experience is required with a Bachelor's degree.
Advanced programming skills, preferably in MATLAB.
Familiarity with wind turbine operation, wind farm SCADA output and measurement of wind farm performance required.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
